Long Beach Animations

Celebrate 4th of July Safely Long Beach

Client: City of Long Beach, Commune Communication

The goal of this campaign was to create five short animations to remind/inform the Long Beach populace that fireworks are illegal in the city, dangerous, and to consider safe alternatives to be a considerate (and sane) neighbor. After initial storyboarding and proof-of-concept rounds, I developed a diverse cast of characters and scenes utilizing bits of the campaign branding style guide and animated them using Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro to ultimately be posted on Instagram and Facebook. This was a huge challenge to me as I’m more of a “motion graphics” and less of an “animator” guy, but my goal is always to solve problems, and I do believe I succeeded!

Long Beach Transit

Client: Long Beach Transit, Commune Communication

This campaign was aimed at educating the Long Beach Transit-using populace about both the system and proper etiquette while using it. I used both existing characters and an existing style to expand the cast of characters and create new scenes, new scenarios, and improved animations for Long Beach Transit’s social media accounts. My goal was to keep these short, sweet, and relatable to appeal to a diverse populace and to add just a dash of humor into them. These were animated in Adobe After Effects and edited together using Adobe Premiere Pro.

Just because I don’t want to create a separate portfolio entry for a one-off, I also designed this “Long Beach Guide” designed to help people navigate around the Long Beach Grand Prix, which is an annual headache to the patrons of Long Beach Transit. Working within existing brand guidelines, this guide was printed and distributed to patrons at a transit fair.
